HINRIK SVELTA
Character Basics
Home Planet: Earth.
Playby: Carl McCoy.
Age: 39.
Nickname/Codename(s): The Savior.
Alignment: Evil, but misguided into thinking he's a hero.
Eye Color: Blue.
Hair: Long, black with traces of blond. He dyed only parts of it blond because, while he believes he is angelic, he also has a duty to fulfill and that duty is not always so angelic.
Civilian Attire: He usually dresses in a black trenchcoat with a hat to go along with it. With the trenchcoat, he always wears steel-toed boots. He wears a light undershirt and pants that go over the boots. He also wears a pair of white leather gloves with small steel caps over the knuckles (like brass knuckles on his gloves). He also wears a wide-brimmed top hat! (Thanks Tommy :3)
Costume: None.
Scars/Tattoos/Marks: A series of scars on his back.
What Makes You Tick?
Powers:
- Emits light - Hinrik always emits a small glow, just enough to be noticed in a dark room. What he can do with this light is actually quite unusual. He can intensify throughout his whole body or singled out in one point to create a burning laser-type effect. If he's feeling particularly destructive, he can make all of his light intensify and create a bomb-like effect. He usually doesn't use this power because it ends with his powers unable to work for a few hours. What he usually does, though, is to concentrate a beam of light into one's eyes, blinding them, and then attacking from there. He can also bend his light, creating illusions of only himself. He can't make it appear as if he has things he doesn't, but he can make himself go invisible or appear as a silhouette.
Weaknesses:
- The sun - It obscures his light, making his powers much more difficult to concentrate. Light bulbs and other manmade sources of light also have an effect, but not nearly as much. In dark rooms or at night are when his power is at its best.
- Noticeable - He cannot turn off his glow, but his trenchcoat hides it from the public. If he exposes his skin then people notice that light emanates from it. His face is the only thing he leaves uncovered, and even then a bit of light glows from his face. He keeps it as toned down as he possibly can, which leaves his light as something that you could only find when looking.
Weapons:
- Forearm blades - Activated by a small button on his gloves, he can eject two forearm blades from their resting places, so a missed punch can cut a throat. These extend out of the trenchcoat, so he usually tries to unbutton his sleeves before using the blades so he doesn't rip the fabric.
Unique Skills:
- Hand-to-hand fighting - He's not above dirty tactics and can throw a pretty good punch on top of that.
- Charismatic - He's one good speaker, and while he doesn't have powers to help his speeches, he puts emotion into them and bends the truth just enough so it's still not a lie, but it's still appealing.
Character Information
Character Personality: He usually tries to appear nice when first met. Anyone apposing him, however, will know his true personality. He's extremely vengeful, sneaky, hate-filled and will stop at nothing to achieve his goals. He is ruthless in anything regarding violence, believing his goal to be the right path: to bring people with powers up to the top: where they rightfully deserve to be. He dislikes fighting others with powers and will generally try to avoid it, but will fight humans whenever given the opportunity. He believes that a minority must always rule a majority. It has happened all throughout history with the upper class generally ruling the lower class, but democracy has somewhat stopped that. But democracy is what sent the ones with powers to jail, unjustly, so Hinrik believes his crusade is justified.
Character History: Hinrik was born to fairly lower class parents in New Orleans who generally didn’t pay attention to him much. They had their family dinners each night, but beside that Henrik was generally a recluse, retreating to his room to read or listen to music. He found out about his power when, one night, he found it difficult to sleep and discovered himself glowing. Ever since then, he had been waiting for the right time to get some kind of important position in the world and show everyone that powers don’t automatically mean that one shouldn’t be trusted.
After the age of eighteen, when he first conceived his plans, he embarked on a more reclusive lifestyle to the point where he refused to take phone calls. He was intent on waiting for the appropriate time to strike.
When he reached the age of thirty, he began emerging now and again with a newfound sense of justification. He found a few people with powers who quickly began to grow into a congregation of sorts, with Hinrik the preacher. Though, with a growing congregation came more suspicion, and maybe of his “flock” were taken to Gehenna. They still remain secretly devoted to Hinrik’s cause, but now in order to be officially accepted one must both know about Hinrik and know to never speak a word about Hinrik. This makes it rather difficult to make it into the ranks of Hinrik’s flock, but after one gets in they’re in for life. Hinrik’s leadership skills have been tested at some points, always ending with the “greater good”- him escaping with a few of his more important friends while the lesser members get hauled off to Gehenna. Authorities still don’t know about Hinrik’s identity, they only know that small, almost religious sects of people with powers are popping up here and there and making themselves know.
Which is all forbidden by Hinrik.
He sees being hauled off to Gehenna as right for them, as punishment for becoming too overzealous and almost ruining his plans. Just as ruthless of an opinion as himself.
Sample Post
The Sample: “And today, my friends, we shall emerge from the foul shells of indignity to once again assimilate into the common world! Now, once and forever, we will show them all that we are far more capable of ruling than they are! With myself at the helm, we shall emerge victorious once and for all!” Amidst raucous applause, Hinrik turned to his aide, who applauded him as well on a job well done. Hinrik only smirked a bit as he walked off of the makeshift stage, waving his aides over to him.
“Sections one, two, three and four should each be rounded up and evacuated. Leave five and six to combat the authorities. Tell them I’m going to return to give them a special speech regarding their... Freshness in my organization.” With a nod, the aide left him and another hustled to meet with Hinrik.
“We’re leaving him. He’ll teach the newbies how to fight. Maybe if any of them survive they’ll be of use to me.” He began to walk away before turning to face a dumbstruck attendant.
“Well, come now, we don’t want to keep the next city waiting!” With a knowing grin smothering his features, Hinrik turned and headed back to the car, taking off his hat momentarily to smooth back his hair.
