Since the beginning of time, Earth has been a breeding ground for numerous forms of life. Throughout it's early history, these life forms were small, cell-sized beings in what is known as the 'primordial pool'. Through generation after slow generation of evolution, these cells evolved into fish, amphibians, lizards, birds, dinosaurs, and mammals... Eventually, this would give rise to humanity, the first species to learn to harness the powerful strength of various forms of magic, with forms differing greatly in the East and West... These magics would allow humanity to grow as they did...
With humanity, came civilization. Civilization allowed humanity to flourish, and to overtake Earth as the dominant species... As well as drawing the attention of another race of beings... One from a distant planet that made the maddening trip to Earth in an attempt to spur this new species to the level they were at... Worshiped as Gods by the ancients, when they left, they left what seemed like a void in the people they'd attempted to change... Having relied so heavily on these beings intelligence and technology, mankind had lost their ties to magic, leaving them almost helpless, which in turn lead to the Dark Ages... Eventually, the only signs of these beings that remained were stories of several lost continents, the most known being Atlantis... And a library of knowledge that would be lost for thousands upon thousands of years in the wasteland known as Antarctica...
With this discovery in the year 1902, humanity was able to leap forward in technology in almost no time. However, with this came the first World War, in which numerous countries competed for the right to keep the Arctic library to themselves...
In this first World War, the Allied Forces and Central Powers worked against one another, each using the new technology to bolster their forces and weaponry. Along with these advances came the first experiments in human modification. Using notes they found, each country began creating 'super soldiers', amping their soldiers with powers previously believed impossible, including flight, energy projection, and creating human/animal hybrids. Surprisingly, the Allied powers came through, claiming the technology for themselves, and expanding into space, finding and colonizing the first suitable planet they found, something of a watery world they staked as 'Lemuria'.
Around 1940, when Adolf Hitler rose to power using anti-semitism as a tool to gain power, the allied powers once again came together to battle Hitler and his allies. In his war against the technology and scientific prowess behind the Allied Forces, Hitler and his allies rediscovered the ancient magics, wielding them to great advantage. At first, Hitler and his free use of magic seemed to have the Allies at a disadvantage... Until some of his men turned on his cause, spreading the knowledge of the various magics to the Allies... Thanks to this turn of events, the Allies were able to use both their great technology and the power of magic to force Hitler and his allies into defeat, ensuring safety for the countless people he persecuted. Capturing Hitler and executing him in secret, the Allies vowed never again to allow such a war to ravage the Earth...
To ensure that such a threat would never rise again, the Allied Forces restructured themselves into one government, calling themselves the 'Allied Global Nations', or AGN. With this new, unified government, the AGN became the sole dominating form of government everywhere on Earth, save for Antarctica, which after gleaning what they felt was all the information useful to their cause, the AGN left to scientists to govern, not wishing to risk abusing the power of controlling such a reserve of information.
Along with this, the AGN found a planet they named Gehenna, naming it after the Jewish term for Hell. Taking this barren, desert like planet, they hollowed the planet and turned it into a massive prison, storing dangerous criminals, of varying degrees, to serve out lengthy sentences, the lightest being twenty-five years.
Shortly after this, the people of Lemuria's continents Mu, Shangri La, and Atlantis separated from the AGN, calling themselves the Council of Lemuria. Accepting this, the AGN quickly entered into a treaty with the Council, ensuring that no wars would break out between the two intergalactic governments. This treaty would prove invaluable, as several criminal organizations sprang up on Earth, as well as within the Lemurian continent of R'lyeh.
While the two massive governments dealt with their criminal problems, major business organization Hidetono Corp discovered the asteroid belt that would come to be known as Cluster 7C and began outfitting the numerous asteroids to be mined of the various rare minerals they held. Due to this, Hidetono Corp began licensing with other companies, turning Cluster 7C into the most important mining colony in the known universe. With this came shady business tactics, which were carried out in secret in Mine Shaft 34, even after it was closed due to an unexplained explosion, attributed to organized criminals seeking extortion money from the companies.
During all of this, the experimentation on volunteers continued, causing many humans to develop 'super' powers, leading to a rise in both heroes and villains on every known planet, and on Cluster 7C. With the militaries of the AGN and the Council of Lemuria finding vigilantes as infringing upon their roles, this caused great upset with both of the major governments in the known universe, leading to the use of 'powers' without official consent becoming illegal. This in turn led to Gehenna beginning to hold not only hardened criminals, but decent people who chose to stand against both crime and the corruption of their governments.
Now, in the year 2010, things have reached a peak... Each day the criminals gain a stronger grip on intergalactic economy... More and more self proclaimed heroes are sent to suffer on the prison world... The governments and corporations continue acting solely in their own self interest... And now you... You must make a decision, on where you stand within the lines of this Corrupt Morality...
